The international conference "A European research strategy for intermodal transport" which will be held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on 17 and 18 April 2013.<br />
<br />
The event has been organised in the framework of the FP7 project INTRAREGIO ("Towards an Intermodal Transport Network through innovative research-driven clusters in Regions of organised and competitive knowledge").<br />
<br />
The objective of the conference is to contribute at the optimization of research and innovation transport policies by defining a targeted research strategy for intermodality to be implemented in the new programming period 2014-2020. In this sense the conference devotes special attention to the role of clusters as driver of innovation activities and to the integration of transport into Smart Specialization Strategies of European regions.<br />
<br />
The conference will be open to representatives from the research, industry and policy making who will have the possibility to attend 5 thematic sessions on:<br />
- Synergies between RTD and transport policies at regional, national and European level<br />
- From research to deployment for seamless door-to-door mobility<br />
- Round table on transport cluster experience<br />
- Focus on urban mobility: Smart Cities and CIVITAS<br />
- S3 thematic workshop on Transport<br />
<br />
Key note speakers will comment on the topic of each session, following which ample time will be left for panel discussion and interaction with the audience. Confirmed keynote speakers include:<br />
- Mr. Pawel Stelmaszczyk, European Commission, DG MOVE<br />
- Jens Sörvik, European Commission, Smart Specialization Platform<br />
- Brigitte Ollier, UITP<br />
- Fabrizio Cobis, Italian Minister for Education, University and Research<br />
<br />
An exhibition space will be also set up for transport and logistics clusters to present their activities and projects. A total of 20 stands will be made available for free and assigned on a first come first served basis upon registration at conference@intraregio.eu.<br />
The conference is in fact aimed also at providing participants from the transport sector with an invaluable opportunity to network and establish collaborations in the pleasant environment of Las Palmas.<br />
