Transnational workshop on green supply chain http://www.socool-logistics.eu/socool3/index.php/en/events/details/31.html http://www.socool-logistics.eu/socool3/index.php/en/events/details/31.html Venue: The Hague (The Netherlands) / The Hague

Time: 11.00 h - 18.00 h
Description:

Introduction

Freight transport is a main driver of the fast-moving and interconnected economy and society of the 21st century. Yet, the growth in transport activities is an increasing burden for the environment. The global challenge consists in achieving a reduction of the environmental impact of logistics activities while at the same time realizing a benefit for the firms. The industry in itself will hardly invest in green conduct without related economic benefits. Moreover, the fact that the transport sector is acting on an international level implies special requirements towards concerted action. The optimization of supply chains implies coordination beyond borders and can only be realized through a strong international network.

The workshop aims to share innovative concepts and experience (e.g. regional R&D and innovation projects) to improve both knowledge and awareness of green logistic solutions. The increasing demands of governmental requirements, as well as trends towards more corporate responsible management, have great need of innovation in this aspect.

Representatives from industry (including SMEs), authorities, academia, and logistics clusters are welcome to share your view and experience.
